Who Are You Talking To?

Any of us who are trying to earn a living online need to understand marketing. This is true whether You are trying to promote your product, blog, or business opportunity. One of the foundations of being effective online is to know who your target audience is. Do you know yours? Who are you talking to?

A common mistake online business owners make is to incorrectly identify and narrow the niche of people they are trying to reach. In general, people automatically want to widen their spectrum.

For example, Let's say you have a great skin care product that you have developed. You know that this is a great product for women who are over 50, but you can also see the benefits it can have to women younger than 50. Then you say to yourself "hey, men need good skin care too!" and you include men in your demographic. Now you have included so many different groups of people that you have to tailor your message to fit them all and in effect you speak to NO ONE!

But when you narrow your niche of people to a select few, and you listen to their needs, you have become like an arrow pointed directly at a target. You begin to speak that niches language in a way that makes them sit up and feel heard. Now, you will reach more people because your message is pointed and direct. Trying to talk to everyone talks to no one.

So decide who your best niche audience is, and learn to speak their language. You will capture their attention and be more effective in your marketing. Here is a great video that illustrates this idea. If you want to learn more about how to market to your niche online fill out the form on the right and watch the videos on the next page.
